In commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting in the USA, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council and the Ritz Theatre and Museum present an exhibit highlighting some of the people and places that influenced the Girl Scout movement in the African American community in Northeast Florida.
The exhibit features material from the Gateway Council historical collection, including photos, documents, and vintage Girl Scout Uniforms. Rare photos and articles tell the story of Camp Chanyata, "A Place in the Woods," as well as the community who stepped up and led the way for girls.
Beginning March 6 the exhibit will be open during regular museum hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Regular museum entrance fees apply. Guided tours of the museum are available for groups of 25 or more. Call 904-632-5555, ext. 228 or visit www.ritzjacksonville.com.
