Expanding Your Horizons STEM Conference for Girls - JC
Grades: 5, 6, 7, 8

The mission of Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) North Florida is to encourage young women in local middle schools to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) studies and careers. Working in collaboration with local organizations, such as Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, The Mayo Clinic, St. Johns River Water Management Systems, and The University of North Florida (UNF) NASA Team, EYH hosts an annual workshop that unites girls with female role models from diverse engineering and science fields and provides engaging and hands-on, STEM-inspired activities. The conference strives to peak the curiosity of young girls to reach new academic heights and to motivate them to become innovative and creative thinkers - ready to meet tomorrow's challenges and to become world-class technology leaders and innovators.

The EYH workshop be will hosted at the University of North Florida (UNF) and will target young women in grades 5-8. This day-long event will include fun, hands-on activities and so much more! Every registered girl will receive lunch, a goodie bag, their own lab coat, a T-shirt and chances to win prizes throughout the day to redeem at local businesses. The day will be divided into two sessions hosted by local STEM organizations and during lunch everyone will get a chance to meet local female role models and learn more about careers that involve STEM.
