OTEX - Gateway Canoe Certification - SA & Adult
Outdoor Training Extravaganza — OTEX — is an annual weekend with the mission of all participants receiving training in a multitude of specific outdoor skills. Participants will grow in knowledge, skill and self-confidence to enhance their girls outdoor experiences.
Learn the basics of recreational canoe paddling including strokes, games, group safety and rescue skills. Successful completion of this class enables participants to facilitate canoe activities on Gateway Council properties only.
As part of the Gateway Canoe Certification process, participants must also agree to facilitate a session during Aquatics Weekend at Camp Kateri.
Requirements: Participants must be at least 16 years old. Those 18 and older will achieve the first step toward becoming an Gateway instructor.
Cost: $70/girl, $70/adult

Register by Sept. 18 at noon.
* Fee includes lodging, meals and session materials. Please eat dinner before arriving Friday night.
* Attendees must be currently registered Girl Scouts or currently registered and approved volunteers.
* Gateway Canoe Certification applies only to the lakes at Camp Kateri and the pond at North Fork. Participants are not certified to take paddlers on Black Creek at North Fork.
* Interested girls will initially be placed on a waitlist. As girl participant spots become available, they will be contacted via email to confirm attendance and complete payment.
Cancellation/refunds: Cancellations must be received by Sept. 8 for a full refund. Any cancellations between Sept. 9-15 incur a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued after Sept. 16.
