Be the role model she'll always remember.
As a volunteer, you’ll introduce girls to new experiences that show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined.
You’ll be their cheerleader, guide, and mentor, helping them develop skills and confidence that will last a lifetime. Imagine the smiles, the excitement, the memories made—those are the moments you’ll share at Girl Scouts.

Council community restructures
You might have heard about our New Council Community Structure. The Council Community Structure will help improve communication directly to volunteers and provide girls the opportunity to breakdown geographic borders and become one Council. We are creating seven Communities to serve the Gateway Council. Service Units will funnel up to a community. Several Service Units will make up a Council Community. The Community structure is designed to strengthen communication, create direct access to information and help deliver the best possible Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls.
Each Council Community will have a Council Community Leader. The leader role will be selected by a Board of Directors ad hoc committee and staff. The Council Community Leader will develop a team with assistance from staff to support the Service Units and volunteers. The Council Community Team will be the same in each Council Community. The Council Community Team will consist of the following positions:
- Council Community Leader
- Council Community Communications
- Council Community Troop Formation Specialist
- Council Community Product Sales Specialist
- Council Community Treasurer
- Council Community Events Coordinator
- Council Community Girl Awards Specialist
- Council Community Mentors (by level)
- Council Adult Recognitions Coordinator
- Council Community Training and Safety Specialist
- Girl Leadership Team
Please feel free to watch the above video, which helps explains the structure.
