Preparing for Summer Camp
Plan ahead to prepare campers for a fabulous experience at Girl Scouts Camp Kateri this summer!
Schedule a physical
Medical evaluations must be from within 12 months of the date of camp to be considered current. For example, if a girl is attending a session that runs from June 19-24, 2012, her evaluation must have been completed no earlier than June 24, 2011. If you have a school or sports physical that is current, you may attach it to the Resident Camp Girl Health Form. Medical histories must be filled out within 6 months.
Attend Open House
Prepare to pack*
-
Prepare Together— Decisions about camp, like what to pack, should be made together. The more ownership the camper has in these decisions, the easier the transition to camp will be.
-
Plan Ahead— Remember your happy camper will be living out of her bag for the week. Packing light helps campers keep track of items, keeps the living quarters neat, and guarantees that girls can handle their own luggage.
-
Review the Packing List— The packing list is included in your confirmation packet. Please carefully review what is needed, with special attention to items that are not permitted at camp.
-
Label Everything— Laundry pens, iron-ons, and press-and-stick labels will distinguish your camper’s belongings from those of other cabin or tent mates. Make sure that your campercamper can identify the label used.
-
Break in Shoes and Boots Before Camp Begins— Ensure that your camper’s clothing and footwear are comfortable and appropriate—clothes do get dirty at camp! Sending a camper in brand-new shoes can result in sore feet.
Register!
Registration is open and sessions are filling up quickly! Deposit is only $25. The balance must be paid two weeks before the start of the camp session. Cookie Doughs may be used, and financial assistance is available.
