Girl Scouts of the USA has compiled a list of universities/colleges, foundations, and Girl Scout councils that offer scholarships, awards, and grants to Girl Scouts. Girl Scout experiences enhance ANY scholarship application with leadership and community service, so remember to include your Girl Scout activities in ALL scholarship applications you submit.
The following are local scholarships available only to Girl Scouts from Gateway Council:
Frank Spain Scholarship
Presented by Gainesville Kiwanis Club
Awarded to a graduating senior who is a Girl Scout from Gateway Council residing in an area serviced by the Gainesville Service Center and will attend the University of Florida and earned the Gold Award. The Spain Scholarship Application is due by June 1, annually. The address for submission may change, please contact the Gainesville Service Center for current details.
Jacksonville University Scholarship Award
A $1000 renewable scholarship is to be awarded annually to one graduating senior Girl Scout in Gateway Council who earns the Girl Scout Gold Award. This scholarship will be offered each academic year. Criteria includes graduation from an accredited high school, record of high scholastic achievement (ranking in top 10% of senior class), demonstrates leadership and good citizenship and is recommended by someone in the Girl Scout organization knowledgeable about her skills and achievements. The scholarship is paid in increments of $500 each at the beginning of the fall and winter semesters, provided the recipient is enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and remains in good standing at the university. The JU Application is due May 31.
