About Girl Scout Cookies

When you buy Girl Scout Cookies, you feed joy and make a difference with every box.

Will your Girl Scout Cookie entrepreneur help the local hospital or animal shelter across town? Climb her first mountain? Start a nonprofit? It’s up to her and her troop. Proceeds stay local to power life-changing programs, experiences, and learning all year long!

When girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they also develop important life skills—goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—that will set girls up for success beyond anything they can imagine.

That’s why we ask you to buy the delicious cookies you crave from your local Girl Scout Cookie business pro—not from her parents. You’ll enjoy your favorite cookies even more knowing you helped her do all the amazing things she’s got planned for this year while also learning a ton along the way.

How the Cookie Crumbles

Cookie Money - Where It Goes

Each package of Girl Scout cookies costs $5 or $6, and all the proceeds stay right here in Gateway Council! But where does that $6 or $6 go, exactly? Take a look:

24% — Cookie Program + Baker Costs
GSGC pays $1.25-1.50 per box of cookies to Little Brownie Bakers. Worth it!

22% — Troop Proceeds, Troop Rewards, Girl Rewards
Troops earn 80 cents to $1.05 per box of cookies sold! Girls make big plans for those funds —  service projects,  fun trips,  unique adventures and  more.

16% — Camp Facilities + Program
Girls love our camps, so we make sure to give them plenty of TLC! Part of the revenue from cookies support maintenance and upkeep of our camp properties. This keeps  camp registration as affordable as possible!

13% — Girl Scout Leadership Experience
You’ve seen the hundreds of  programs, events and training opportunities on GSGC’s calendar. The Girl Scout Cookie Program supports staff and resources to make these opportunities a reality! Revenue also contributes to financial assistance to make Girl Scouting available to each and every girl regardless of her family's ability to pay.

19% — Member + Volunteer Support
Girl Scout volunteers complete training before taking on a troop or other role, and GSGC’s membership team supports thousands of volunteers  through their own Girl Scout journey! The cookie program provides funding for these staff members, training for both staff and volunteers, and ongoing development training to address emerging needs of girls and volunteers.

6% — Customer Service + Support
GSGC might not have a dedicated customer service team, but that’s why you have each and every one of us!  We’re all here to answer questions, resolve conflicts, provide administrative support, manage member data — you name it. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, staff has the resources we need to make sure volunteers and girls have the resources they need!

The Girl Scout Cookie Program Has Gone Digital!

Yes, the Girl Scout Cookie Program you know and love is going beyond the booth and offering more ways to buy cookies and support girls’ learning than ever before.

And the best part is that Digital Cookie helps take the essential skills girls learn through the traditional cookie program to a whole new level – introducing critical lessons about online marketing and e-commerce to more than one million excited Girl scouts, in real-time.

So how does it work? In true girl-led style, a Girl Scout always handles the cookie sale.

So if you know a Girl Scout, tell her you’re interested in becoming a Digital Cookie customer. Oh, and credit cards are more than welcome.

Don’t know a Girl Scout?  That’s OK! You can still support girls and all of the amazing things they learn and do by buying cookies at your local cookie booth. Find cookies now.
